Freak the Mighty
Rodman Philbrick was an boat builder that lived on the New England coast. His novel 'Brothers & Sinners' was said it was his best novel ever published in 1993. He also wrote under a pen name as William R. Dantz usually authors write under a pen name (fake name) to see if people just like them because of other books or just cause of that book. He has been awarded for many of his novels and series.
The setting of the book starts off in Max's (mighty) basement when he looks out of his window and sees Kevin (freak). They both have problems like Kevin is a small handicap kid that has no friends. Max is a really tall kid that is not handicap and has no friends.
The way they met was when Kevin was playing with a toy and got it stuck in a tree so max wanted to help him get it down. Then they became friends.
The conflicts in this story are many. The way they get through them is by sticking together and instead of having weaknesses they stick together and use thier strentghs. But not letting any of their weaknesses be used against the they are invinsible. At the end their last conflict is when Kevin dies and Max freaks out.
The suspence in the story is when Max and Kevin face all of their conflicts. Then their others are when they are in danger.
The main charachters are Kevin and Max. Kevin is handicap and he has no friends and he is really short. Max is a really tall guy with no friends.
Their enemies are any one who gets in their way. For an example some of their enemies are the people that make fun of them at school or on the street.
The theme of this story is that there are two boys Max and Kevin and they both have no friends and they run into problems in the time that they are together. Then Kevin tells Max that people have been doing tests on him and that he is going to have part robot body. But in the end Max finds out that he has had tests ran because he has problems and he is going to die. Then when he dies Max freaks out.
As you have read it is not resolved. Kevin just dies.
